When is the next election in Michigan’s 10th Congressional District?

The Michigan 10th Congressional District Democratic Primary takes place on Tuesday, August 4th, 2026.

When is the last day to register to vote in the August 4th Election?

Online and mail-in voter registration forms must be submitted to your local clerk's office or postmarked by July 20th, 2026. After that date, you may register in person at your city or township clerk's office until 8 p.m. on August 4th, but you must have a document that proves your residency in the city or township where you are registering. Acceptable proof includes a Michigan driver's license or ID card, a lease, paystub, or government check.

When are absentee ballots available?

Voters who requested an absentee ballot or are on the permanent absentee list will have ballots mailed to them beginning June 25, 2026. Voters can also go to their city or township clerk's office in person to request an absentee ballot starting on June 25th until 4 p.m. on August 3rd.

When must my mail-in ballot be received?

Your absentee ballot must be received at your city or township clerk's office or deposited in one of your city or township's ballot drop boxes by 8 p.m. on August 4th, 2026.

Election day polls open at 7:00 AM and close at 8:00 PM.

Do I need a photo ID to vote in person?

Voters are not required to possess a photo ID to vote in Michigan.
Voters without a photo ID may sign an affidavit and will be issued a ballot.

A photo ID presented at a polling place does not need to have the voter’s address on it. The name on the identification card can be a shorter form of the voter’s full name.

Acceptable forms of photo ID include the following:

Driver’s license or state ID card issued by Michigan or another state
Federal, state, county or local government-issued photo ID
U.S. passport
Military photo ID card
Educational institution ID
Tribal photo ID card
Local or county issued government ID
Concealed Pistol license

What if I don’t have a photo ID?

If a voter does not have photo ID, or has forgotten to bring it, they can still cast a ballot by signing an affidavit stating that they are not in possession of a valid photo ID. Once the affidavit is signed, they may cast a ballot, and it will be counted with all other ballots on Election Day.
